Review and Diary of Use on the BabyBjorn Carrier Active
"I was delighted when I found out I would be reviewing the BabyBjorn Carrier Active as we had already considered purchasing this carrier as it fits very nicely into our active life. Upon receipt of the carrier I first noticed the packaging for the carrier is compact and lightweight with a useful grab handle on the top. The image on the front of the box shows the product in use which would attract my attention if looking to purchase a baby carrier, it also shows both a male and female modelling it which is a plus point to attract dads!
The side of the box shows more positions that the carrier can be worn, thus meaning there is no need to open the box to find the instruction before deciding on purchasing the item.
Easy to read and digest bullet point descriptions of functions on the rear highlight the BabyBjorn Carrier Active benefits.
Pictorial fitting instruction on the inside cover of the booklet are easy to follow and the written section that accompanies it back up them up with simple terms and handy tips.
The fact the BabyBjorn Carrier Active is fully adjustable in all directions is a huge positive attribute, especially for me being tall and not exactly a small build, the lumber support is something I haven't seen on other carriers and sides up and down the runners without having to fiddle with any straps so it can quickly be moved to suit both myself and my partner.
Also the printed height guide for baby directly on the carrier makes it simple to get the right setting and makes you feel safe using it for the first time and the adjustable seat area will allow me to use the carrier as Amelia grows.
The additional leg straps for babies under 11lb adds to the safety aspect so you know baby can't slip out of the side of the BabyBjorn Carrier Active.

My daughter Amelia was very clingy today and by 9.30am I still hadn't managed to have breakfast! I am sure many mum’s can sympathise with this! I decided to put her in the carrier and as well as being able to finally eat, I also managed to get some bit and pieces done around the house, Amelia looked very comfortable and happy in her BabyBjorn Carrier Active. I found it very quick to clip on and get Amelia in and out and with her close to my body I could move freely about. The carrier felt very secure and held Amelia in a stable and upright position, the shoulder straps were comfortable without being too thick or bulky and as one of our first uses of the carrier I was very impressed with how it had been designed to keep both child and parent’s comfort into consideration.

We went to our usual Friday Under 1's group with our local NCT mum's and babies, Amelia was in and out of the carrier over a 3 hour period. It was very easy to get her into the Carrier Active from my car and it was comfortable for me on the short walk to where the group meets. Another mum with the original BabyBjorn carrier commented on the lumbar support and was impressed with the improvements made from the original. After we went for our coffee and Amelia fell asleep on our way to the coffee shop. She stayed asleep in the carrier for about an hour. I found it easy to sit down and chat, still with her still asleep on my chest and it was great to be hands free and enjoy my cup of coffee and muffin!!

I had to go shopping for a few small things and decided used the carrier instead of struggling with the buggy and a basket. It was a very good decision!! As I didn't want Amelia to sleep I put her in the forward facing position, she loved being able to see everyone and everything and kicked her legs looking around constantly. Amelia was quite happy and content in the carrier if she would have been in her buggy she would definitely been a fidget and would have been fighting to escape! I found it was so easy for me to move around the shop and pick up the things I needed, I had forgotten how easy shopping could actually be!
One thing I would comment on are the bibs for the carrier which can be brought as a separate item are a definite must to add to the carrier as Amelia has started chewing everything and dribbling everywhere. Unfortunately there is nothing available to protect the person actually wearing the carrier when the baby is facing you and trying to secure a muslin to catch the dribble or reflux is quite tricky.

This week I had to do the big weekly shop on my own with Amelia and find the trolleys which hold the car seats a bit of a pain with 2 people let alone just me, so again knowing how easy the last shop was I put Amelia in the carrier facing out as it's now her favourite position whilst in the carrier. She loves to have a nosey!! I had managed to complete all my shopping in no time and one person mentioned to me that using a carrier adds a whole new dimension to shopping and she was definitely right!

In summary I found the carrier
very useful in everyday tasks, easy to use and setup whilst being very comfortable for both child and parent. Amelia was happy to be in and out of the carrier for short or longer periods of time and absolutely loved being able the look around. Over the testing period Amelia went from just under 12lb to nearly 13lb (now just over 3 months old) so I expect to be able to use the carrier without her feeling too heavy for a number of months to come. As an active family, tending to be out walking and visiting family at the weekend the
BabyBjorn Carrier Active has
made our lives so much easier and we will continue to enjoy using it!
The only slight down side I found was the lack of bib/protection between the wearer and baby, something that could attached between the top head clips would be great. However please do not let this trivial problem put you off purchasing this
BabyBjorn Carrier Active. This is a wonderful carrier and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a convenient way of transporting their babies!"
