Doidy Cup Reviews

Doidy Cups can be purchased directly from www.bickiepegs.co.uk priced at £3.70

"As my 4 month old daughter is almost exclusively breastfed and fussy with a bottle, I was very keen to try the Doidy Cup and see how she would react. The Doidy Cup packaging is compact and bright and the reusable bag aspect is something I have not seen before for an item of this type and will be very handy for travelling.
The age for use is visable on the front of the packaging so is the fact that the cup is BPA free which is a definite must have for me. The simple and clear benefits are laid out on the back in an easy to read format. The Doidy Cup can be sterilised in a conventional or microwavable system, put in a dishwasher and also a freezer which makes it a very versatile and easy to clean item.

The first time we used the cup we put Amelia in her chair and let her play with the Doidy Cup so she could get use to it. The bright colour attracted her immediately and as with most things that come into reach it was banged and chewed. She was able to hold the handles easily due to their slim design.

We put a small amount of milk in the Doidy Cup and I put it too her mouth, the slanted side which is higher on the drinking edge makes it easier to control the flow of milk reducing spillages. At first, more of the milk ended up down the bib mainly due to her grabbing the cup or moving her head about, when she did realise what was in the cup her movements slowed and she was eagerly waiting each time I tilted it more lapping the milk with her tongue giggling after each mouthful. This first use was very messy but thoroughly enjoyable for all of us.

Every time the Doidy Cup come out she was excited at the sight of it and it became easier to use with more going in her mouth than down her front. As there is no way of knowing at this stage how much she is actually drinking it's more of an early introduction to a cup for us than using it in place of our current feeding method, but I was so surprised how well she has taken to it at 3-4 months. By using the Doidy Cup at this early age I hope that she will gain the skills to use it more independently with less fuss than trying to wean from a bottle later on.
At just £3.70 I think the Doidy Cup is great value for money, it's easy to use and clean and generally a fun item for both the child and parents to use. I would definitely recommend this to others in the future."

"The Doidy Cup, made by Bickiepegs, is suitable for use from birth and designed to aid the process of learning to drink from a cup.  It is priced at £3.70 and comes in a re-sealable bag which can come in very handy when out and about to keep the cup clean.

My first impression of the Doidy Cup was how strange it looks; I was dubious but gave it a go with Dot regardless.  The Doidy Cup is available in a variety of bright and vibrant colours which appeal to parents and babies alike. The cup is made from plastic which is BPA free and is not easily damaged or broken.

The first attempt at using the Doidy Cup was rather disastrous, although the principle is simple.  There are two handles for baby to hold on to and the one side of the cup is set at an angle for baby to drink from.

Dot was more interested in EATING the cup than drinking from it and the handles just seemed to baffle her.  She was quite happy to have a sip from it if I was holding the cup but as soon as I tried to get her to hold it she started crying, although at 7 months she still is very young and it is still early days with the bottle-to-cup training.  Maybe as she gets older the Doidy Cup will prove its  value more.

The Doidy Cup is easy to wash and is safe to sterilise which is ideal for a sterilising nut like me.

I’m not sure I would have actually purchased the product by just seeing it in the shop, in fact the amount of money I’ve spent on training cups, bottles, you name it in an attempt to not give Dot juice from a bottle is unreal but her tongue-tie has made a lot of them almost impossible to use because of the spillage.  I’m also not convinced I would buy the Doidy Cup after experiencing it but I also wouldn’t have tried it out while Dot is so young.  I will, however, keep going back to it to see if our experience will improve. The price doesn’t put me off as it is in the same range as the majority of other training cups available.

I would recommend the Doidy Cup to friends with older babies as I think they may take to it easier than Dot did."

"When I first saw the Doidy Cup I first noticed the simplicity of the design and wondered how my 18 month old daughter would react to this slanted designed cup due to the fact she is now already used to drinking from cups.

The Doidy Cup comes in a wonderful brightly coloured resealable package – the fact it is resealable appealed to me as it is very handy for when I am out and about to keep everything clean.

My first attempt with my daughter drinking from this cup was quite messy as I had realised it could be I had only put a little juice in the cup. My daughter was slightly too keen and ended up tipping the cup right up as she is used to that motion with her current cups. Once she realised that she was going to be doused with juice everytime she drank from the cup she was very cautious. I aided her whilst she drank from the cup and until she was comfortable holding the easy to hold handles at either side of the cup and tipping it to the right level for her.

The Doidy Cups are available in a range of colours and priced at £3.70 I found this very reasonable.

The slanted design of the cup makes it very easy for a child (once trained!) to be able to control the flow of juice that they are drinking. It is definitely a unique cup and something I have never seen before. This would not put me off though and my daughter really does enjoy using the Doidy Cup. It has just taken time to adapt and I do think she may have adapted quicker if she had begun using this when she was slightly younger and therefore not as fond of her usual cups.

The cup is made from BPA free plastic and is very sturdy. It can be sterilized, placed in the dishwasher, freezer and is even microwave safe!

I will definitely be recommending this cup in future – I have already had comments on the unusual slanted shape of the cup but all are impressed with the great results once a child is used to the cup!"
