Hevea Soothers Reviews

Hevea Soothers are available from www.1two.co.uk priced at £4.99 each

"The Hevea Soother is like no dummy I have ever seen.  Firstly it comes beautifully packaged in a recyclable and biodegradable box.  This is great as I do try to be environmentally friendly.  Once out of the packaging the dummy looks very different from any I have used and seen before.  At first I was a little sceptical of the colour, as it is not the most attractive looking dummy. It is very rubbery looking and a honey colour.

What is unique about the dummy is that it is moulded into one piece.  Hygienically this beats any other, especially as it is a product that is in and out of a baby’s mouth.  This is great as it can’t breed germs in the crevices that a traditional dummy has. The dummy also is naturally 100% rubber from the Hevea tree.  Therefore it contains no PVC, BPA, phthalates or artificial colours.  Again this is a benefit to children and babies that have this in their mouth.

So that is the basics behind the dummy, now it was time to see if my little one took to it.  Erin is nearly 8 months and uses a dummy from time to time.  When I gave this to Erin she popped it in her mouth and chewed at it.  It was different from what she was used to but she started to suck the soother and when it fell out she quickly put it back in.  After a few minutes it obviously didn’t taste new and she happily took to it.

Another benefit is that because the Hevea Soother is natural rubber it didn’t mark her face leaving the tell tale dummy mark! The cost of this dummy at £4.99 is more than the average dummy – however considering its benefits this wouldn’t bother me.  Most BPA products (eg bottles) are a little more expensive than their counterparts.

Overall I like this dummy and would recommend it to other parents!"

"The Hevea Soother is available in a beautifully packaged box that showcases the dummy inside. The box is recyclable which is fantastic as a lot of the dummies we use come in plastic packaging that unfortunately in our area cannot be recycled.

When I took the soother out of the packaging to wash before use I noticed that the whole dummy was rubbery and flexible, unlike anything we have used before. The rubber is 100% natural and made from the Hevea tree, hence the name! The dummy is just one section and I felt that as the dummy is made from rubber it did not leave any marks on my daughter’s face when in use and dribbling was very limited.

The amber-ish colour of the dummy is suitable for both boys and girls- the colour is rather bizarre but this did not deter my daughter in anyway and she was very curious about this new soother and played with it and took a bite before she figured to use it as a soother. She would use it more when she was going to sleep and I did not find the thickish rubber affected her sleep when she rolled over.

I found the anatomical shaped dummy very easy to keep clean as it was just one section unlike other dummies we use which have several joins.

There were stars and moon shapes cut out of the soother and I believe further designs and accessories are available from the Hevea range.

Priced at £4.99 it is definitely a little more than I would usually pay but my daughter has enjoyed using this soother, as a dummy and to physically hold. The packaging is absolutely beautiful and I would recommend this product as a lovely present or as a special treat for your own little bundle!!"

"Hevea Soothers are made from 100% pure natural rubber from the Hevea brasiliensis plant and are sustainable.  They are latex so are unsuitable for babies with a latex allergy.  The soothers do not contain PVC, BPA, phthalates or artificial colours.  They are the orthodontic design.

The Soothers come in a variety of designs, stars and moons, cars, flowers and crowns.  They also have some accessories such as the soother holder and the soother storage bags.

The Hevea Soother is original and I was surprised when I first saw them.  The packaging was very attractive and suitable for a gift (in my opinion).  The information contained in the packaging was sufficient.

I followed the instructions and placed the soother in boiling water before letting Dot have a little try. Initially, the Hevea Soother was a success as she appeared to enjoy it.  She spent ages sucking it and rubbing it across her cheek while smiling.  However, when I needed to clean the soother I gave her one of her standard soothers and she then refused to take the Hevea Soother.

I personally love the Hevea Soother although its colour could be a little more appealing as my Mother commented that it didn’t look very good.

The Hevea Soother is priced at £4.99 for one soother which I think is rather steep and it does put me off buying one but if you’re really into organic and natural products then it is perfect for you."

"The Hevea Soother is made from 100% natural rubber (latex) which is sustainably produced, the rubber material means the pacifier is very soft and flexible so there are no hard edges for baby to lay on if it's dropped while they are sleeping. The single piece mould has no joints or cracks so cleaning is easy and very hygienic which is great if baby tends to posset after feeding.

The soother is shaped to prevent marking on the face and does not form the usual vacuum reducing the risk of rashes forming if you have a baby that dribbles a lot. There are a number of designs from stars & moons, flowers, cars and crowns with both the anatomical flatter shaped teat for 0-3 and 3m+ and the round teat for 3m+.

Alongside a storage bag there is also a holder with clip to attached to babys clothing that can be purchased separately, both these items have a space for the baby's name which would certainly be handy for nursery. The accessories are 100% organic cotton and the ink used for the printed patterns is made from soya. The packaging is also made from recycled and biodegradable materials.

My initial thoughts on the pacifier were that it looked rather large compared to our usual make, but as the teat is the same shape it should be familiar enough for my 4 month old daughter to try.

It does have a handle loop which due to the single piece mould it fixed in place , as my daughter is a very active baby she did tend to knock the handle and push the pacifier out of her mouth especially as the size made it slightly more difficult to keep in when sleepy, I think the off the face shape also contributed to her not being able to grip it too well.

One downside of the natural latex rubber for us is that my mum has an allergy to it so if we were to choose to use the Hevea pacifier we would also need an alternative for when with her. In the end it become more of a toy and a distraction when she was supposed to be sleepy because it would fall out of her mouth or be grabbed at and pulled. I would give it a 3.5/5 for the 100% natural materials, the sustainability and recycled/biodegradable aspects but for us it fails in everyday use. Though I will try this soother again when my daughter is older."
