Mamas & Papas Skate Pram Review
When we found out we were expecting Dot, we started thinking about prams. I have very particular views on prams. In fact I know EXACTLY what I want. We started hunting and trying to find the perfect pram for us. J is almost 6’10 and didn’t fancy the idea of stooping to push Dot. We tried various makes and models but he wasn’t happy with any of them so we took a trip to Mamas and Papas in Bristol and bought the Mamas & Papas Skate. It wasn’t my first choice.
Aesthetics
The Skate looks modern and original. Ours is black and mandarin which incidentally, isn’t an option anymore. The size difference in the wheels and minimalistic frame makes for an interesting look.

Practicalities
The Skate is simple to fold down and put up although it’s not very compact. However you can take the wheels off to make it that little bit smaller. (It will not fit comfortably in my P-reg Punto)
The Skate is a 3-in-1, the Mamas & Papas Primo Viaggio car seat will also fit on the chassis using adapters which come with it.
The main seat can be a carry-cot and in three simple steps will become a pushchair, simply tilt the carrycot, and pull the two tabs to form the seat. The main seat can be parent-facing or front-facing. The carrycot and seat can be slid up the chassis to bring baby closer to you.
The Ride
I think the chassis seems wobbly when out and about. Although, this doesn’t seem to affect Dot’s enjoyment of the ride.
Cost
The Skate is expensive but you’d expect to pay it for a Mamas and Papas pram. You get the rain cover with the pram but the car seat needs to be bought separately.
My views
I love the colour of the pram but the chassis hasn’t grown on me as I expected it to. The pram does have a mind of its own on occasions and the wheels seem to be deflated constantly. I love how quickly it folds down although it isn’t as compact as I’d like.
I do love Dot facing me though, so it’s worth everything and the strangest thing, whenever J says to me ‘let’s sell it’ I can’t bring myself to agree, so I must like it deep down.
SFR would like to thank Beth Evans for her wonderful review of the Mamas & Papas Skate and know exactly how she feels, our loft is full of baby things we cannot bear to part with!
