Rio The Video Game - Birds of a Feather Party Together!
Rio is a fun, extremely colourful multiplayer party game that will ensure you toe tap your way through every game! The salsa music is very catchy indeed certainly adds to the Rio effect.
With the ability to challenge your friends, up to 4 players can compete with each other over 40 action-packed mini-games. You and your family or friends can choose to play as Blu (the main character from the movie), Jewel, Rafael, Eva, Nico and Pedro. If you cannot muster up enough players then do not worry as you can play as 1 player game matched against the computer!
As a family we sat down and got ready to play this family game (it really did make a change from playing racing games!) and had so much fun! On the PS3 the game graphics are crystal clear and the colours are amazing, just what you would expect from Carnival fever!
The mini-games are so much fun and very addictive and my husband and I did find that we became very competitive. Liv, although she did not fully understand the concept of the Rio video game had so much fun dancing to the music and watching mummy and daddy make fools of themselves! Albeit the game is actually aimed at children, even as adults we found it to be quite entertaining. The games were very easy for us to jump straight into and figure them out although there are little hints and guides before each mini-game and you all must select you are ready to continue when ready.
The game itself was very responsive and we found it was very easy to keep a track on our characters and at the end of each mini-game the winners rankings were announced. Consisting of 5 unique player modes which allow you to choose your own selection of mini-games (Story, Party, Carnaval, Carnaval Wheel and Garland Gala) there is something for everyone!
You can play for trophies too which boosts your game play and also your status! Games require players to dodge footballs, collect tropical fruits and snowballs and throw at other players which we found to be very interactive.
Our overall opinion is Rio the video game is definitely a fun, family game. Each of the characters has their own personality which come across even whether they win or lose. The colours and music are perfect for keeping children entertained and engaged with the game. I wouldn't have necessarily bought this game if I had seen it available in the shops however they always say to never judge a book by it's cover. If you are on the lookout for a simple, easy to use game that ruffles a few feathers and keeps everyone entertained then this is for you!
Available on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. Available from selected retailers - with an RRP of £34.99
