At the age of 2.5 years Liv can certainly give us the run around and there are times when I find myself running like Usain Bolt to catch her. Recently we visited the Drayton Manor theme park and I have to admit I had been dreading it slightly as I knew Liv would take this as her opportunity to run for the hills! In the end she completely surprised us and was as good as gold but there are always other opportunities.
We have never used reins for Liv and feel that she would not respond well to them so when the opportunity arose to test a "Mommy, I'm Here" Teddy Bear alarm system from Safe Girl Security we jumped at the chance. As soon as the extremely cute teddy bear shaped alarm and keychain transmitter arrived it had Liv's curiosity and she could not wait to try it.
The Teddy Bear alarm can easily be affixed to your child's clothes/belt or shoes and is quite discreet. Liv was not sure at first but once she realised that the Teddy Bear made a noise she was quite happy to run around the house with it! The keychain transmitter is used by the adult in charge of the child and is small enough to easily fit in your pocket or attach to your keys without being a burden. The transmitter has an inbuilt areial that can be extended slightly to increase the range of the alarm system. One press of the transmitter will result in the Teddy Bear omitting a short burst of low level beeps, perfect if your child is close in proximity with low level noise. A further press will omit a series of very loud beeps which are certainly audible from a distance of roughly 100 yards.
I cannot recommend this alarm system enough, especially if you have a child who is as independent as Liv. A great reassurance for parents without denying your child freedom. Not only does it make you aware of the location of your child but it also makes others in the vicinity aware of the situation also.
For playtime in our close it is absolutely fantastic as I always know where Liv is, though we are yet to use it in a situation such as Drayton Manor. The "Mommy, I'm Here" alarm is priced at £29.99 and it is absolutely worth every single penny.
