Reviews of Sophie The Giraffe
For the purpose of this product test, Sophie was tested in the blister packaging which is perfect for parents purchasing for their children or as replacements. Sophie is available in a beautiful gift box which makes a wonderful present for any occasion
"Sophie the Giraffe arrived in a blister pack with a lot of information on the back. As Vulli is a French brand obviously the first set of information was in French with English directly beneath. The information lists that Sophie stimulates all the senses and for this I can agree.
She is made from a very smooth natural rubber and is easy to handle. Her legs and features are of a good size to hold comfortably. Sophie is a beige, cream colour with brown spots on her body to stimulate sight. As for hearing, well both myself and my son were amazed to find that Sophie actually squeaks and I find this very novel for a teether and a lovely addition! My son started chewing Sophie almost immediately as he is currently suffering with his teeth cutting through and he happily dribbled away. Upon first seeing Sophie I expected her to be made from a flimsy rubber however she is a lot stronger than I would have thought and so far I have not found any teeth marks in her 100% natural rubber body although she still is quite flexible.
Smell wise, Sophie is made from natural rubber from the Hevea Tree and although I was unsure of the smell my son loved this and the smell did not deter him from chewing away. The legs, horns and ears are very easy and accessible to chew whilst holding comfortably onto Sophie at the same time.
With BPA Free products now becoming more popular I was surprised to find that Sophie not only being made from 100% natural rubber was also completely BPA free! She is very pretty to look at from a child and a parent’s point of view and it seems such a shame to chew her!
Sophie the Giraffe is available in a blister pack priced at £11.99 and a gift pack priced at £12.99. For me the blister pack was a little basic however I liked the fact I could actually see Sophie inside. They always say do not judge a book by its cover and Sophie has certainly proved that – she makes a wonderful toy for your own children and would be a fantastic gift idea for any births, birthdays or Christmas presents. I would definitely use again and recommend to others! Sophie celebrates her 50th Birthday this year which goes to prove that a toy that has been around for so many years must be very popular. Happy Birthday Sophie!"

"I was very interested in receiving Sophie the Giraffe as I had read that it was a useful teething toy and Amelia had just started to show signs of gum discomfort. When Sophie arrived I found that the dome shape of the packaging crushed inwards slightly due to an overzealous postman, but the clear plastic allows the item to be seen easily. The number of languages on the back of the box makes the writing very small and packed together which is difficult to read the bullet pointed benefits of Sophie. The age range of 0+ is visible to see on the front on the packaging. Sophie the Giraffe is available in a gift pack box and I believe this packaging contains more information.
As Amelia is only 3 months her hand to mouth coordination isn't good enough for her to use it effectively as a teether but she does like it as a toy and can hold it without any problems due to the thin legs and neck. When she has got it in her mouth she will chew and suck it, she has also started to hold it in front of her and focus on it smiling so I know she enjoys it currently as a play thing and hope she will go on to use it more as a teething aid. The squeaker does remind me of a dog toy and when at her grandmother’s I did have to stop making a noise with Sophie as the dog was very interested, but the sound does get Amelia's attention and distract her it she is upset.
Myself I find it a good item to have, it's compact size makes it good to take out and about, not just for teething but as a general toy. Sophie’s smooth surface is easy to wipe clean and the rubbery material doesn't hold water or dribble so over time it shouldn't start smelling."

"My parent’s living in France had seen Sophie the Giraffe (Sophie La Girafe) in shops before and had considered purchasing one for my daughter, so were very interested in my opinion of this teether. Sophie is completely different to any other teether I have seen before and is definitely aesthetically pleasing as a teether and a toy. My daughter held Sophie at first as she was unsure what to do (the fact Sophie squeaks confused her even more!) so when I showed her to chew on the legs she quickly followed suit and was soon chewing on Sophie’s ears as well.
There is a bizarre taste to Sophie as she is made from 100% natural rubber however this did not deter my daughter from chomping on Sophie! She was quiet whilst using Sophie as a teether, apart from the odd squeak here and there and my daughter also takes her into her cot with her. During the night I will hear a couple of squeaks but I am very reassured about my daughter using Sophie and when she isn’t being bitten all over she is held as a comforter as Sophie is so smooth and easy to hold.
I would definitely recommend Sophie to others; she is totally BPA free and will certainly look into adding more Vulli products into our already expanding toy collection!"

"I had never really heard of Sophie the Giraffe, or Vulli toys for that matter, until I received her to test. I was looking forward to seeing Dot’s reaction as it’s always exciting to watch a baby interact with a new toy. Sophie was an instant hit. She squeaked as I was opening the packaging and got Dot’s attention immediately, in fact Dot went completely rigid with excitement. Before handing her over to Dot to investigate I did a little investigating myself. I tasted her (and wasn’t that impressed.. rubber yuk), I pulled her legs and head (nope, she didn’t break) and I squeaked her a lot (she’s loud and exciting).
Dot’s little hand was outstretched and waiting for Sophie and she grabbed her around the neck (which is perfectly designed for little hands) and put the head in her mouth and chewed away while Sophie squeaked. The rubbery taste I mentioned earlier didn’t seem to faze Dot at all unlike it did me. My son also had a play with Sophie and didn’t seem to mind the taste.
Sophie arrived in the blister pack and in this clear packaging is priced at £11.99. Sophie is also available in a gift pack which is wonderful for presents!!
Sophie is perfectly designed for little hands and little mouths. It’s durable and safe due to being made out of natural rubber. Sophie is safe from birth although as I’ve said my four year old also liked her. Dot hasn’t let Sophie out of her sight since I gave her and still goes rigid when she hears a squeak (and has also started copying her).
I would recommend Sophie to others and would definitely buy it now knowing how good it actually is. I would rate Sophie the Giraffe as a 5/5 because she is great and everything I look for in a teether but if I was to include the blister packaging I’d have to drop ½ a point because of it being a little basic . So it’s a 4.5/5 from me."
